We are looking for advanced conservatoire/post-graduate level applicants as follows:

7 violins – 3 violas – 2 celli – 1 double bass

1 flute - 1 oboe– 1 clarinet – 1 bassoon – 1 french horn - 1 trumpet

Successful applicants receive a £450 bursary for the week plus private hosted housing

London - Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Manchester - Royal Northern College of Music

Birmingham - Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

Cardiff - Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (if enough applicants)

Glasgow - Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (if enough applicants)   

We will accept video submissions from overseas applicants

Audition requirements

Orchestral excerpts  will be distributed to all candidates in December.

In addition, candidates are asked to bring a performance piece from the list below which we prefer to hear played unaccompanied.  In all cases, the cadenza is appreciated, but not mandatory.

Violin - First movement from any Mozart Violin Concerto.

Viola - Any suitable concerto movement or solo piece

Cello - Any suitable concerto movement or solo piece

Double Bass - Any suitable concerto movement or solo piece

Flute - First movement from any Mozart Flute Concerto

Oboe - First movement from the Mozart Oboe Concerto

Clarinet - First movement from the Mozart Clarinet Concerto

Bassoon - First movement from the Mozart Bassoon Concerto

Horn - First movement from any Mozart Horn Concerto

Trumpet - Any suitable concerto movement or solo piece

(NB No trombone slot for 2027)

Availability

Candidates should be available from 16th - 22nd May 2027 to spend the full week in Chipping Campden. Bed and Breakfast with local hosts is included and we provide supper on the concert days.

Successful candidates will be notified by the beginning of March 2027.

We offer a bursary of £450 to each successful candidate for the week.

We aim to notify unsuccessful candidates by the end of March 2027. Feedback on auditions will be available on request.
