Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, op.77​ 

Beethoven: Symphony no. 3 in E flat major, op.55 “Eroica”

Aleksey Semenenko lifted the roof of  St James’ Church with his high octane performance of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto back in 2025, so we are thrilled that he is returning with​ Brahms’ equally famous concerto. Surprisingly, this is the​ first time we’ve programmed the work in the Festival and  Aleksey is bound to bring his deeply personal and chamber music approach to bear on this expansive and exuberant masterpiece. An homage to Beethoven would not be complete​ without a symphony and the ever popular, remarkably innovative, and impactful 3rd, the Eroica, is the perfect match for the Brahms.
